Should you find yourself here on my main website, and on this page, I have tried to explain myself, and my need for having a personal site.
I am a self-employed, disabled, single parent; I’m part of the LGBT community, and I am passionate about many things. While a personal website does feel like a bit of an indulgence, it actually allows me to neatly categorise (or link to) my hobbies, document what I get up to, and to scribble down a blog every now and then about my interests, or topics I care about. Even if it’s only for the sake of me reading it back later on.
I am in a position health wise now where I am unable to pass any days without using my wheelchair. It’s relentless now, and has been for a few years. While it is only an aid to help me keep going/working, it’s there non-the-less and it reminds me of my limitations daily. That being said, I am fiercely determined, as well as having a staunch work ethic; and so while I may need to use mobility aids, I generally ‘try’ not to let too much get in my way.
These days I find myself much less active (through exhaustion), and so looking back at this site is great at those times. Being disabled can be all encompassing, and thoroughly debilitating. Seeing things done in the past on here, or reading past blogs can lift my spirits immeasurably.
I have a passion for equality, human rights, and the law as it applies to both (and beyond), and I have a long standing love for politics and debating. I founded the campaigning organisation Wipe Out Transphobia to try and organise support for trans people worldwide, and to get stuck into some of the issues I could clearly see needed to be tackled. I have also worked with Schedule 1 Offenders, a Probation Service, the Citizens Advice, and the North Wales Police.
I am also, from a past life, a fully trained, and widely experienced mechanic (with a lot of engineering skills and experience).
I love life, and I have overwhelmingly loved, and still do overwhelmingly love and cherish raising my children. Since about 2014, I have home educated both of my children, something that’s led to them both being very well rounded, well educated, and worldly young people.
I enjoy numerous hobbies, chief of which are percussion, ‘making’ (engineering), physics, photography, videography, music, flying (for real and with models), and robotics. I have a range of projects and science experiments that I have used to teach my children displayed on this website, and on instagram.
Drumming is something I love, and I can confidently say runs through every ounce of my being, but unfortunately I cannot do it any longer. I have therefore turned my love of music into writing and producing music instead.
All in all, this site is a place to organise the things I love, to link to other projects, and to write about my life as it evolves and changes. It’s a place to look back on and smile. A place to remember, and to share my thoughts. This is a site that collates all of my other work and hobbies in one place, but there are also multiple other websites listed in the footer of this page, for activities or hobbies that were too involved to effectively contain here.
Indulgence, indeed!
If you’ve read this far – thank you very much/diolch yn fawr….
